We had a packed private event with about 35 participants for the Economy, Jr. held on behalf of Greensboro YWCA’s yWorld program at Jackson Middle School on Thursday, May 29th.

ReBuildUp @ Teen Summit Saturday, May 31st 3-6pm
Come out to the Teen Summit at the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St. this Saturday afternoon to learn more about ReBuildUp’s programs in person as we help promote the Economic Literacy Summer Series at the Greensboro Public Library table.
“The City of Greensboro is hosting a Teen Summit from 3-6 pm Saturday, May 31 at the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St. Free food and refreshments will be served for all teenagers present from 4-5 pm, along with music and entertainment. The Teen Summit will help inform teens on what programs, events, and activities are available throughout the summer. More than 15 local service providers will be on hand with information for teens and providing guidance on such things as career development and how to become a leader in your community.”

PUBLIC (FREE) EVENT – On Saturday, June 14th, teenagers are welcome to come out to the Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship from 1-3:30pm to take part in ReBuildUp’s Jobs Course where they’ll play Economy, Jr., an Economic Literacy game, and Pitch Drill, a fast paced business plan and pitching contest.
By completing both games, players will be eligible to enter their own business concepts to the Cashless Incubator for review by area businesses in hopes of landing internships, jobs, or resources for their startup idea. Participants of the Jobs Course will not have to pay the minimal signup fee to enter the Cashless Incubator for six months thanks to a generous donation by Summit Credit Union.
Summit Credit Union is sponsoring the event with Shift, the Nussbaum Center’s startup group, providing assistance.
For business owners, consider taking part by listing any available internships, jobs, or resources you’re willing to barter in exchange for skills. PUBLIC (FREE) EVENT – On Saturday, May 17th, ages 11 on up to adults in Spartanburg, SC are welcome at the Mulch Tank to play “Economy, Jr.” where players gain insight into both sides of the economic coin by having them choose at the start of the game whether they want to play as a customer spending a month’s paycheck from their chosen career on necessities such as housing, groceries, child care, and more or as a merchant running a business needing to make enough sales to cover this month’s overhead.
Mulch Tank, the go to Business and Leadership Center in Spartanburg, is not only hosting, but also sponsoring the event with eVision Corp providing volunteer assistance.
